Eagles fall to Cougars; Wolverines clinch share of title

Windom 24-27 = 51
CM 43-40 = 83

The Windom Eagle boys basketball team couldn't keep pace with a high-powered Cedar Mountain team Tuesday night, falling 83-51 at Morgan.

The Cougars shot just under 50 percent from the field for the game and held the Eagles to 18 percent from three-point range for the night. CM built a 19-point halftime lead, then outscored the Eagles 40-27 in the second half.

Kobe Lovell led the Eagles with 15 points. Eric Pfeffer added 12 points.

MLAC 30-31 = 61
RRC 20-24 = 44

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey clinched a share of the Red Rock Conference title Tuesday, winning a rare weekday afternoon contest 61-44 over Red Rock Central in Lamberton.

RRC held an early 13-4 lead and led 18-16 before the Wolverines ended the half with a 14-4 run, taking a 10-point halftime lead.

RRC was able to close to within eight points at 46-38 halfway through the second half, but the Wolverines ended the game with a 15-6 burst, sealing the win.

Sam Paulson led MLAC with 14 points in the win. Abraham Stoesz and Drake Harder each added 11 points.

Spencer Halland led RRC with 17 points. Jonah Hansen and Noah Pankonin each scored six.

Adrian 20-21 = 41
WWG 49-25 = 74

Westbrook-Walnut Grove raced to an early lead from the outside, then pounded the ball inside late, rolling to a 74-41 win over Adrian Tuesday in Westbrook.

WWG hit six first-half three-pointers, staking itself to a 29-point halftime lead.

Then, in the second half, with Adrian guarding the three-point line, the Chargers went inside to senior Parker Freeburg, who scored all but seven of WWG's second-half points.

Freeburg led the way with 26 points, 18 coming in the second half. Ethan Mischke scored 13 points, Andrew Quade added 12, all in the first half, and Nathan Ross scored 10, also all in the first half.
