Boys hockey falls at Waconia

Windom Area 1-2-0 = 3
Waconia 3-5-1 = 9

A rough start to the second period gave the Windom Area boys hockey team a massive deficit Tuesday, leading to a 9-3 loss at Waconia.

The Eagles trailed 3-1 after one period, scoring their lone goal with 44 seconds left in the period. Wyatt Haugen scored off assists by Kyle Espenson and Matt Stubbe.

But in the second period, the Wildcats scored four times in the first 2:29 of the period, blowing the game open. Waconia scored two goals in the first 45 seconds of the period.

Espenson added the Eagles' final two goals late in the second period, including one with just four seconds left on the clock. Waconia scored the game's final goal 1:23 into the third period.

Waconia outshot the Eagles 31-21 in the game.
