Luverne 34-27 = 61 Windom 18-34 = 52 The Windom Eagle girls basketball team struggled to get going, offensively, Thursday night, which led to a 61-52 loss to Luverne in Big South Conference action at Windom.
The loss ended a six-game winning streak for the Eagles.
Luverne started the game strong, quickly building a double-digit lead in the first half. The Eagle offense was hampered by early turnovers and missed opportunities to score in the lane, as the Cardinals raced to a 16-point halftime lead.
Windom battled back in the second half, trimming the deficit back to single digits. But the Cardinals hit key baskets late and held off the Eagle rally despite going cold from the free throw line in the closing minutes.
Allison Letcher led the Eagles with 14 points. Autumn Hauge added 11 points in the loss.
SESM 23-28 = 51 RRC 30-34 = 64 Red Rock Central had a strong night on the offensive end and on the glass Thursday night, claiming a 64-51 victory over Sleepy Eye St. Mary's at Lamberton.
The Falcons held a seven-point halftime lead, but was able to maintain the lead by crashing the offensive glass. RRC finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds and 36 overall rebounds in the game.
That allowed the Falcons to hold off a St. Mary's rally in the second half.
Haley Simonson led the Falcons with 18 points. Nicole Schroepfer scored 11 points and Karli Arkell finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.
