Windom Area 0-4-2 = 6 Dodge County 0-0-3 = 3 The Windom Area boys hockey team jumped to a lead with a strong second period and made it stand Friday night, claiming a 6-3 win over Dodge County at Kasson.
After a scoreless first period, the Eagles got on the board with four second period goals. Mikal Anderson got Windom on the board 1:18 into the period. Vincent Vongsy and Tylan Porath followed with back-to-back power play goals. Vongsy added a second goal at the 13:35 mark, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
After Dodge County cut the deficit to 4-1, the Eagles put the game away with a pair of goals 10 seconds apart. Caleb Rivera knocked in his second goal in as many games, then Kyle Espenson took a quick feed off the face-off and outraced the Wildcat defense for a 6-1 lead.
The Wildcats scored a pair of late power play goals.
Dodge County outshot the Eagles 31-26 for the game. Eagle goalie Josiah Quintero finished with 28 saves.
