Playing with a makeshift lineup, the top-seeded Windom Eagles survived a stiff test in the first round of the Section 3A playoffs, defeating Hills-Beaver Creek 3-1 Friday in Windom.
The Eagles were already without all-conference senior Maurissa Isaacs due to injury. Friday, all-conference senior Becca Hacker was out of the lineup due to illness.
That had the Eagles scrambling throughout the match. Windom fought off three set points in the first set before claiming a 28-26 victory. HBC battled back, winning set two 25-22. Then, the Eagles fought off a pair of set points in the third set before claiming a 29-27 win. With the momentum in its favor, the Eagles rolled to a 25-8 win in the final set.
Windom was sharp from the service line throughout the match, led by Autumn Hauge's 22-of-23 serving with three aces. Paige Pigman went 18-of-20 with three aces. Tori Christoffer was 14-of-14 with two aces.
At the net, Katelyn Nichols led the way with 25 kills and eight solo blocks. Hauge had 11 kills, Christoffer had 8 kills and Ella Brockman finished with seven.
Reegan Elder finished with 28 set assists. Halle Jackson added 13 assists. Jackson and Shelby Erickson each had seven digs.

Red Rock Central emerged after four tight sets Friday night, claiming a 3-1 victory over Murray County Central in the first round of the Section 3A playoffs at Lamberton.
Each of the sets was tight and back-and-forth throughout, with the Falcons winning 25-23 to start the night. MCC battled back, winning 26-24 in set two. But RRC won a 25-21 decision in set three before closing the match with a 28-26 thriller in the fourth set.
Falcon senior Haley Simonson went over the 1,000 career digs mark during the match.
Simonson led RRC from the service line, going 33-of-34 with three aces. Nicole Schroepfer was 12-of-13 with two aces.
Schroepfer had a team-high 17 kills. Kaitlyn Rindfleisch added eight kills and Karli Arkell had six kills. Simonson finished with a team-high 21 set assists. Kennedi Janssen had 16 assists. Bianca Weis finished with a team-high 20 digs.

Adrian 25-25-25 = 3
Adrian powered its way to a first-round Section 3A playoff win Friday night, knocking out Westbrook-Walnut Grove with a 3-0 decision at Adrian.
WWG's offense was kept in check by an aggressive service game and solid blocking from the Dragons. Adrian jumped to big leads in each of the three sets. WWG battled back in the third set before falling 25-22.
Grace Woelber went 14-of-15 serving with two aces to lead the Chargers. Emma Wahl went 17-of-17 with an ace.
Woelber and Kelsey DeSmith each had four kills to lead WWG. Brittany Erickson had a team-high 18 digs. Woelber finished with six set assists. Camryn Bunting had two solo blocks.

MLAC 25-20-26-25 = 3
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey opened the Section 2A playoffs with a strong performance Thursday night, surging to a 3-1 victory over New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines took the first set 25-20. NRHEG won set two 25-20. Then, the Wolverines won a back-and-forth third set 26-24 before closing out the match 25-20.
Margo Stoesz had a big night for the Wolverines, going 19-of-19 serving with four aces. She added a team-high 23 kills and had a team-high 31 digs.
Destiny Sybounheuan went 19-of-20 serving with three aces. Taylor Naas was 18-of-20 serving with three aces.
Jaelin Renquist added 10 kills. Sybounheuan had 40 set assists. Lexi Toll finished with three solo blocks and Renquist finished with 22 digs.
