Rabbits take Friday matinee over Falcons

Wabasso 25-25-25 = 3
RRC 23-18-19 = 0

In front of an overflow crowd Friday afternoon in Lamberton, state-ranked Wabasso rallied to take the first set, then kicked into gear to earn a 3-0 sweep over Red Rock Central.

RRC took an early lead in the opening set, but Wabasso scored eight of the final nine points to win the set 25-23.

That gave the Rabbits momentum, as Wabasso took an early lead in the second set before holding off a late Falcon surge. Wabasso then pulled away late in the third set to close out the sweep.

Kennedi Janssen led RRC from the service line, going 13-of-14 with two aces. Kierra Highby went 8-of-8 with an ace and Karli Arkell was 7-of-7 with an ace.

Arkell and Nicole Schroepfer each had eight kills for the Falcons. Highby finished with seven kills. Haley Simonson had a team-high 15 set assists. Simonson and Schroepfer each had eight digs.
