Post 206 falls in extra innings

Springfield 5, Windom 2
The Windom Legion Post 206 baseball team had several missed opportunities Monday evening before falling 5-2 in eight innings to Springfield, in a game that was played at the Windom Recreation Area.

Windom tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning on a Kyle Espenson RBI single.

After Springfield took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth, Post 206 answered with a Kobe Lovell RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

But Windom had one runner thrown out at the plate in the game and left runners in scoring position in the first, second, third and seventh innings.

Springfield took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the eighth, scoring on a wild pitch, a single and a squeeze bunt.

Alex Borsgard and Lovell each had a pair of hits for Post 206 in the loss.

Espenson took the pitching loss, working two-thirds of an inning of relief.

Windom is scheduled to play at Mt. Lake Thursday.

MLAC 14, Jackson 2
The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey Legion team was red hot on offense Monday night, pounding its way to a 14-2 victory over Jackson at Mt. Lake.

MLAC raced to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Fletcher Hanson, Adam Karschnik and Drake Harder had RBI singles.

MLAC added three more runs in the second on a Dylan Hillesheim RBI double, an RBI triple by Hanson and a Jackson error.

MLAC tacked on six runs in the third on a three-run triple by Hillesheim, RBI singles from Mace Herrig and Karschnik and a two-run error.

MLAC's final run scored its final run on an error in the fourth inning.

Abe Stoesz, Hillesheim, Hanson and Karschnik each had two hits for MLAC in the win.

Hillesheim worked the first three innings on the mound to earn the pitching victory.

MLAC hosts Windom Thursday.
