Windom 37-38 = 75
Fairmont 24-39 = 63

The Windom Eagle boys basketball team put together one of its best outings of the season Thursday night, leading nearly wire-to-wire to claim a 75-63 win over top-seeded Fairmont in the Section 3AA South playoffs at Jackson.

Fairmont opened the game with back-to-back three-pointers and a quick 6-0 lead. But the Eagles answered with eight straight points, eventually stretching the lead to 13-8 and never trailing again the rest of the way.

A strong first half from Luke Gilbertson and Kaden Elder propelled the Eagles to a 13-point halftime lead. Gilbertson scored 18 first-half points while Elder poured in 11 points in the first half. The Eagles closed the first half with a 23-7 run over the final 10-plus minutes of the half.

The Eagles stretched the lead to 17 points early in the second half before Fairmont was able to close the deficit to nine points with just over eight minutes to go. Back-to-back three-point plays from Gilbertson helped the Eagles stretch the lead back to 15. The Eagles hit 13 free throws in the second half, clinching the victory.

Gilbertson finished with 32 points, leading the way for the Eagles. Elder scored 17 and Kobe Lovell added 12 points in the win.

With the win, the Eagles will take on second-seeded Pipestone Saturday evening at SMSU in Marshall, beginning at 6 p.m. Pipestone advanced with a 63-39 win over Jackson County Central. The Eagles defeated Pipestone twice during the regular season.

SWC 41-51 = 92
WWG 40-36 = 76

Westbrook-Walnut Grove's 20-game win streak and post-season run came to a crashing halt Thursday night at the hands of a red-hot Southwest Christian team, as the Eagles defeated the Chargers 92-76 in the Section 3A playoffs at Worthington.

SWC held a slim one-point lead at halftime. WWG took the lead early in the second half, but SWC's outside shooting proved to be the difference. The Eagles hit 14 three-pointers in the game, scoring 51 points in the second half to clinch the victory.

Anthony Ross led WWG with 20 points. Tyson Elzenga scored 17 points and Kyle Kuehl finished with 11 points.

WWG ends its season with a 24-4 overall record.

MLA 25-34 = 59
St. Clair 24-49 = 73

Mt. Lake Area saw its season come to an end Thursday night with a 73-59 loss to St. Clair in the Section 2A playoffs at Lake Crystal.

The Wolverines held a one-point halftime lead, but St. Clair battered the Wolverines from the lane and from the free throw line in the second half.

The Cyclones went 27-of-42 from the stripe for the game, compared to 9-of-18 for the Wolverines. St. Clair pounded the ball inside in the second half, as Alex Eilertson scored all of his game-high 21 points in the second half.

Meanwhile, MLA struggled from the field, shooting 28 percent.

Weston Osland led the Wolverines with 19 points. Abraham Stoesz added 14 points in the loss.
