5/18/2020 11:59:00 AM Cottonwood County up to 58 COVID-19 cases
Monday's Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 update indicates that Cottonwood County has two new lab-confirmed cases, bringing the county's total to 58.
Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services stated the newest patients are ages 23 and 30. DVHHS states that 33 of the cases of the virus are considered active, with one person currently hospitalized.
Jackson County has no new cases of the virus, with a total of 36 cases, including 17 considered active.
Nobles County report 1,387 cases of the virus with two deaths. Martin County has 120 cases with five deaths. Watonwan County reports 41 cases. Murray County reports 33 cases. Brown County reports 10 cases with two deaths and Redwood County reports three cases.
Four counties in the state currently report no cases of the virus: Cook, Lake of the Woods, Hubbard and Stevens. Stevens county had previously reported a case of the virus, but that diagnosis has since been changed. The state reports 16,372 cases and 731 deaths. Of those deaths, 595 resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities. It also lists nine probable COVID-19 deaths, where the virus is listed on the death certificate but a positive test was not documented.
MDH also reports that 1,870 health care workers in the state have tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 10,764 patients state-wide who have recovered. There have been 2,128 hospitalized for the virus, with 488 currently hospitalized and 229 currently in intensive care.
The state reports 156,606 tests for COVID-19 having been performed in the state.
No new long-term care facilities in the area have reported exposure to the virus.
