4/8/2020 3:53:00 PM BREAKING NEWS: Gov. Walz extends "Stay Home MN" order
In a press conference today, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz extended his "Stay Home MN" executive order until May 4.
The announcement comes two days before his executive order he announced on March 27 was to end. The extension of the stay home order means dine-in restaurants and bars will remained closed until May 4. Schools also remain closed and distance learning remains in effect until May 4.
He did allow golf course maintenance workers to go back to mowing golf courses and is working to make provisions for landscaping workers to return to work.
The order also allows some businesses to return to operations with provisions in place to keep social distancing in place.
Walz added that he will continue to discuss and adjust the order to allow Minnesotans to enjoy some opportunities. However, he emphasized that Minnesotans stay at home to continue to flatten the curve and allow the state's health care industry the opportunity to be able to meet the demand when COVID-19 is expected to reach its peak in the state sometime in early June.
