Sharing Center sets new hours, procedures during COVID-19
Add the Windom Area Sharing Center to the list of businesses and organizations having to adjust its hours and procedures in light of COVID-19.
Fortunately, the center is still meeting the needs of its clients, but going forward it will be done in a drastically different way.
The changes include a system that, until further notice, will virtually eliminate face-to-face interaction.
"We will now be only offering prepackaged food, designed to mesh as closely as is logically possible with the average choices of our clients," Jones explained. "While this eliminates the personal food choice feature that we've always employed, it also eliminates the level of interaction that has existed before this - a very common sense benefit for both the client and volunteer alike."
The Sharing Center's service hours also have changed. The center is now open Tuesdays, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and Wednesdays, 4 to 5:30 p.m. Jones said the reduction in interaction lessens the time needed to serve clients.
For more details on the Center's changes, see the story in the April 8 issue of the Cottonwood County Citizen on newsstands Wednesday.
