10/19/2020 4:56:00 PM Quick turnaround homecoming kicks off with coronation
Just a month ago, homecoming was the farthest thing from the mind's of members of the Windom Area High School Student Senate.
However, when the Minnesota State High School switched gears and brought back football and volleyball to the fall, so also came homecoming. The student senate and advisers had to shift into high gear and begin making plans for a homecoming yet this fall.
Those plans are still being worked out, but most are in place for Windom Homecoming 2020, "This is Halloween."
Homecoming week gets underway Monday, Oct. 26, when the school will crown its homecoming king and queen at a ceremony in the Gold Gym starting at 7 p.m.
"We've had a very quick turnaround in planning this," says James Burton, Student Senate adviser.
"It's been a whirlwind of activity trying to plan it all. Every time we think we have something set, something comes up, 'Oh, we can't do that.' The goal is to give these seniors some kind of homecoming, but it needs to be a safe homecoming."
Candidates will be announced during noon hour at the school on Wednesday.
