Subcommittee to consider Windom pirate ship issue

The future of the giant Island Park pirate ship remains in limbo, but it could see more clarity over the next two weeks.

At last night's Windom Park & Recreation Board meeting, the board decided to send the matter to a subcommittee that consists of City Administrator Steve Nasby, Windom Superintendent of Schools Wayne Wormstadt, City Council member Jenny Quade, a member of the Windom Baseball Association and Scott Kuecker the ship's planner and builder.

The ship has been in place for several weeks, but needed to go through a planning and approval process. The committee's goal will be to complete that process and present its findings to the full Park & Rec board.

For more on this topic, plus other details from last night's Park & Rec Board meeting, see the Sept. 16 Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition.
