No one has filed for two available city council seats

Less than a week remains for citizens to file for city council and school board offices, yet no one has filed for two available Windom City Council seats.

So far, Mayor Dominic Jones is the only city incumbent to seek office. Jones, a 14-year veteran of the council, will seek his second term as mayor.

Meanwhile, Ward 1 and 2 remain void of candidates. Ward 2 incumbent Rod Byam says he plans to move and will not seek re-election. Ward 1 incumbent Marv Grunig said recently he had not yet decided whether to seek a second term.

Candidates have until Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. to file for office.

For more on area filing, watch windomnews.com and see the July 29 Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition.
