Two-vehicle crash near Mt. Lake injures three

Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Mt. Lake.

According to the State Patrol, at 2:41 p.m., an accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 60 and 570th Avenue.

A 2011 Dodge pickup, driven by Chad Kraus of Adrian, was east-bound on Highway 60 when it was struck by a 2002 GMC, driven by Adriana Zarate of Garden City. The GMC was north-bound on 570th Avenue.

Zarate suffered injuries that were considered life-threatening and was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. One of her two passengers, 3-year-old Ezra Zarate of Garden City, was taken by ambulance to Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries. Another passenger, a 5-year-old boy, was not injured.

Kraus was taken by ambulance to Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Department, Mt. Lake Police Department, Mt. Lake Fire and Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
