Area crops off to strong start for 2020

Independence Day is around the corner, a time when people start measuring corn. At this point, those measurements are bringing smiles to the faces of area farmers.

"I think our crops are excellent around here," said Eric Wright, an agronomist for Country Pride Services Cooperative in Bingham Lake. "There are little to no drown out spots and the corn is ahead of schedule with good color."

For much more on the current state of corn and soybean crops, see the July 1 Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition. Also, check windomnews.com each weekday at 8 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. for news updates. And watch for other updates throughout the day.
