6/26/2020 8:21:00 AM Reading man dies in crash near Sanborn
A 37-year-old Reading man was killed in a three-vehicle accident south of Sanborn on Highway 71.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that at 11:50 a.m., a 2008 Chevy pickup driven by Jeffrey Shaner of Sanborn and a 2015 International dump truck driven by Greg Boettger of Springfield were stopped in the northbound lane of Highway 71 due to road work in the area. A 2005 Chevy pickup driven by Ryan Klenken of Reading was northbound on Highway 71 when it rear-ended the dump truck, which then collided with the other pickup.
Klenken was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Shaner and Boettger were transported by ambulance to Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash closed Highway 71 for several hours Thursday afternoon.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Department, the Westbrook and Windom Police Departments and Sanborn and Jeffers Fire and EMS.
