Cottonwood County has one new case of COVID-19 in Wednesday's Minnesota Department of Health update, with no new cases reported in Jackson County.
Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services reports Cottonwood County currently has 77 lab-confirmed cases of the virus. Of those, 13 are considered active, within a 10-day isolation period. There have been two patients hospitalized in the county, with one currently hospitalized.
Jackson County remains at 40 cases of the virus, with only one case within the 10-day isolation period. There have been no hospitalizations in Jackson County.
Around the region, Nobles County reports 1,558 cases with five deaths. The increase of six cases in the past 24 hours is one of the smallest increases the county has seen since the first cases were reported. Martin County remained at 132 cases with five deaths. Watonwan County added one case, currently sitting at 78. Murray County remained at 39 cases. Brown County added one case, with a current total of 17 cases with two deaths. Redwood County remained at six cases.
The state currently has 25,870 reported cases of COVID-19 with 1,086 deaths. Of those, 876 were patients that resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities. There are also 11 deaths where COVID-19 is listed on the death certificate but a positive test was not documented.
MDH also reports that 2,802 health care workers in the state have tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 21,169 patients state-wide who have recovered. There have been 3,203 hospitalized for the virus, with 537 currently hospitalized and 254 currently in intensive care.
The state reports 265,718 tests for COVID-19 having been performed in the state.
