Area churches urged to remember, honor cancer survivors

Organizers of Cottonwood County's annual Relay For Life are asking area residents to remember and honor local cancer survivors on National Cancer Survivor's Day on Sunday.

The commemoration is held each year on the first Sunday in June.

Typically, churches in the county are asked to recognize cancer survivors in their congregations during their Sunday services on Cancer Survivor's Day. And while Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has allowed churches to reopen at 25% capacity starting this Sunday, some churches may remain closed.

Consequently, churches are encouraged to note the occasion during their prerecorded or livestreamed services on Sunday.

For more on Relay For Life in 2020, see the story in the June 3 issue of the Cottonwood County Citizen on newsstands tomorrow.
