6/2/2020 12:36:00 PM No new COVID-19 cases in Cottonwood County; exposure reported at Valley View Manor in Lamberton
Cottonwood County had no new cases of COVID-19 in Tuesday's Minnesota Department of Health update, but Jackson County added one new case of the virus.
Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services stated that Cottonwood County has 76 cases of the virus. Of those, 12 are considered active, within a 10-day isolation period. There also is one current hospitalization for the virus.
Jackson County now has 40 cases of the virus. The new case is the only case of the virus currently inside the 10-day isolation period. There have been no hospitalizations in Jackson County.
Around the region, Nobles County reports 1,552 cases with five deaths. Martin County reports 132 cases with five deaths. Watonwan County reports 77 cases. Murray County reports 39 cases. Brown County reports 16 cases and two deaths. Redwood County reports six cases.
The state currently has 25,508 reported cases of COVID-19 with 1,072 deaths. Of those, 866 were patients that resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities. There are also 10 deaths where COVID-19 is listed on the death certificate but a positive test was not documented.
MDH also reports that 2,764 health care workers in the state have tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 20,381 patients state-wide who have recovered. There have been 3,134 hospitalized for the virus, with 537 currently hospitalized and 248 currently in intensive care. The number hospitalized and the number in ICU has decreased the past two days.
The state reports 258,747 tests for COVID-19 having been performed in the state.
Redwood County reported its first long-term care facility with an exposure to COVID-19. The exposure was reported at Valley View Manor in Lamberton. MDH defines exposure as a person diagnosed with COVID-19 who either visited, worked or lived at a congregate care facility while they were contagious.
