County reclassifies highways to gain more funding help

As the county looks for more funding options for keeping as much funding as possible in the county coffers and to increase state aid for road maintenance, it has looked to reclassify eligible roads.

The county cannot add to the number of County State Aid Highway roads, but it can apply to change which roads will receive state or county funding.

County Engineer Nick Klisch received a go-ahead from MnDOT to move forward with the reclassification and he received commissioners' approval. MnDOT has since signed off and these changes are complete.

The public will only notice a change in the color of the signs.
