5/22/2020 12:00:00 PM No new cases of COVID-19 in Cottonwood, Jackson counties
Neither Cottonwood nor Jackson counties reported any new cases of COVID-19 in Friday's Minnesota Department of Health update.
Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services reports that 52 of the 59 cases in Cottonwood County are past the 10-day isolation period, with seven remaining active. There has been one hospitalization in Cottonwood County.
In Jackson County, 34 of the 37 cases are past the 10-day isolation period, while three remain active.
Around the region, Nobles County reported 1,432 cases with two deaths. Martin County remained at 124 cases with five deaths. Watonwan County increased to 45 reported cases. Murray County increased to 34 cases. Brown County increased to 11 reported cases and two deaths. Redwood County remained at three reported cases.
The state reports 19,005 cases and 842 deaths - with 813 newly-reported cases and 33 newly-reported deaths.
Of those deaths, 688 resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities. It also lists nine probable COVID-19 deaths, where the virus is listed on the death certificate but a positive test was not documented.
MDH also reports that 2,216 health care workers in the state have tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 12,696 patients state-wide who have recovered. There have been 2,432 hospitalized for the virus, with 534 currently hospitalized and 233 currently in intensive care. The number hospitalized in the state decreased in the past 24 hours.
The state reports 180,971 tests for COVID-19 having been performed in the state. Over 7,000 tests were completed in the past 24 hours.
