No new cases in Cottonwood County; Jackson County reports one new case

Cottonwood County had no new cases of COVID-19 but Jackson County had one new case in the past 24 hours, according to the Thursday Minnesota Department of Health update.

Cottonwood County's total remained at 59 cases, while Jackson County increased to 37 cases.

Des Moines Health and Human Services reported that 51 of the 59 cases in Cottonwood County were past the 10-day isolation period, while eight remained active. There has been one hospitalization in Cottonwood County.

In Jackson County, 34 of the 37 cases are past the 10-day isolation period, while three remain active.

Around the region, Nobles County reported 1,414 cases with two deaths. Martin County reported 124 cases with five deaths. Watonwan County reported 42 cases. Murray County reported 33 cases. Brown County reported 10 cases and two deaths. Redwood County reported three cases.

The state reports 18,200 cases and 809 deaths. Of those deaths, 663 resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities. It also lists nine probable COVID-19 deaths, where the virus is listed on the death certificate but a positive test was not documented.

MDH also reports that 2,120 health care workers in the state have tested positive for COVID-19.

There are 12,488 patients state-wide who have recovered. There have been 2,380 hospitalized for the virus, with 566 currently hospitalized and 229 currently in intensive care.

The state reports 173,556 tests for COVID-19 having been performed in the state.
