3/24/2020 5:00:00 PM Local student has first-hand knowledge of Italy pandemic
Giorgia Asti probably knew more about the Coronavirus pandemic than anyone else in Cottonwood County, well before it reached the United States.
Because her family began living it almost two months ago.
Giorgia, is a 17-year-old exchange student from Italy, living with the Wayne and Becki Wormstadt family in Windom.
Her Italian family lives in Lodi, just 40 minutes from Milan, the epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak in northern Italy.
Giorgia says her parents are fine and have not contracted the virus. However, some of her relatives, who are younger, did contract the virus which turned out to be little more than a bad case of the flu for them.
