Windom EDA approves seeking option on Cemstone property

The proposed Cottonwood Lake housing development took another step forward at Monday's meeting of the Windom Economic Development Authority.

After a 20-minute closed session, the board approved a motion calling for EDA Executive Drew Hage to execute an option for the Cemstone property. The option, which expires July 17, gives the EDA time to line up potential projects that would support Tax Increment Financing, which would then cover bonding for the project.

If the EDA does not line up sufficient building projects, the option could possibly be extended into 2021. For more on this story, see the Jan. 15 Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition.
