Windom area receives 7 inches of snow
The first big snowstorm of the season has come and gone from the Windom area and it's left a fresh 7-inch blanket of new snow.
Snow began falling in Windom at about 5 p.m., Tuesday evening, and ended in the early-morning hours on Wednesday. When the snow stopped, a total of 6.8 inches of snow had fallen in Windom. It was the heavy, wet variety of snowflakes, too. That 6.8 inches of snow equalled .65 of precipitation.
The snow isn't done. More snow is expected to fall beginning Thursday and running through Sunday. However, the weekend precipitation may be just that, precipitation only. As temperatures climb into the upper 30s and low 40s in southern Minnesota, much of the precipitation is forecasted to be rain over the weekend, with some turning to snow on Sunday as the weather system makes its way out of the area.
