Today's snow emergency stays in effect until noon
The Windom snow emergency, which was put into effect shortly after 12:01 a.m. today (Wednesday), will remain in effect until noon--or "until the streets, alleys, or parking lots have been cleared of snow," city officials stated.
In a snow emergency, people are not allowed to park on streets, alleys and parking lots until after they have been cleared by city crews. Violators risk citations and having their vehicles towed.
Street Department crews cleared streets overnight and there was a possibility of further snow removal this morning, according to City Administrator Steve Nasby. High winds and blowing snow will continue to cause hazards throughout the day. Depending on the weather over the next several days crews are planning to be out and clearing snow.
