Elijah Mutz and Brigitte Beall were crowned Windom Area High school's homecoming king and queen at ceremonies in the school's Gold Gym Monday night.
The two were crowned through an elimination process in which each king and queen candidate was eliminated when they received a gold "Oscar" from freshmen prince and princess Henry Erickson and Mackenzie Doorenbos. When two remained, the candidate receiving the star trophy was named king and queen.
The evening also included vocal solos by Victoria Schutz and Ashley Wilde as well as a dance-off between the king and queen candidates. By audience applause, the queen candidates were judged the better dancers.
Other king candidates were Jesus Cazares Reyes, Kyle Espenson, Trey LaCanne, Kian Oilouch and Vincent Vongsy.
Queen candidates, in addition to Beall, were Grace Becker, Shelby Erickson, Meadow Espenson, Halle Jackson and Sophia Nelson.
