Courthouse window project may be done over 4-year span

A courthouse window replacement project, planned by Cottonwood County Commissioners, looks like it may turn into four phases instead of one.

A grant application to replace windows, originally submitted in July, will be resubmitted to the Minnesota Historical Society on Friday with modifications, according to Jim Schmidt, former Cottonwood County Commissioner and Westbrook resident. Schmidt has been trying to obtain grants for the project for more than two years.

Schmidt has learned that this year's round of grants totals at least $17 million, with $3 million available.

For much more on this story, see the Sept. 11 Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition.
