8/30/2019 9:23:00 AM Highways 60/86 crash sends two to hospital
Two individuals received non-life-threatening injuries in a crash at the intersection of Highways 60 and 86 at 1:53 p.m., Thursday.
Transported by ambulance to Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries were 89-year-old Helen Evers of Windom and 53-year-old Roel Rodriguez of Rio Grande, Texas.
According to the report by the Minnesota State Patrol, Evers, driving a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country van, was traveling southbound on 450th Avenue, while Rodriguez, driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup, was westbound on Highway 60. The report stated that the vehicles collided when the Chrysler crossed westbound lanes of Highway 60. Both vehicles wound up in the westbound ditch of Highway 60 -- the Chrysler van near the intersection and the pickup about 200 yards further west.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, air bags deployed in both vehicles and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
In addition to Windom ambulances, Windom Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
Traffic was held up in the westbound lanes for about 10 minutes as Windom Fire Department personnel, State Patrol and local towing services swept debris from the westbound lanes. Traffic was then reduced to one lane as vehicles were towed from the scene.
