Historic Des Moines River flood: A year later
It has been almost exactly a year since the Des Moines River made its historic overnight climb in Windom.
The mere mention of that event still has people shaking their heads in amazement. The river crested at 23.37 feet on July 7, 2018, 1.4 feet below Windom's record level set on April 10, 1969.
Several area leaders offered observations about that memorable week.
"Looking back, I'm amazed at how the community came together for one cause," said Nick Klisch, Cottonwood County Highway Engineer/Public Works Director.
