RIVER UPDATE: Des Moines River back over 20 feet

The West Fork of the Des Moines in Windom is back over 20 feet.

At 11:30 a.m., today, the Des Moines River, measured at the County Road 15 bridge near the Windom Country Club, was at 20.02 feet, which is up from Thursday, but down just .06 feet in the past hour.

The river through Windom was at its lowest point on April 6 at 19.37 feet. The river was holding steady until the Windom area received .54 inches of rain Wednesday. Despite the rain and slight rise in the river level, little to no flooding is occurring at Island Park.

However, warm, sunny weather has already settled into the Windom area and temperatures are expected to climb into the 70s over the holiday weekend.

Watch Citizen Online for more updates on the river level and forecast.
