National Weather Service updates blizzard warning

The National Weather Service has updated its blizzard warning for the Windom area a short time ago.

The NWS report calls for blizzard conditions lasting until midnight tonight. The forecast calls for dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 degrees below zero with winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

The NWS wind chill warning runs from midnight tonight until noon on Friday.

The report covers Southwest Minnesota and extends to portions of east central South Dakota.

"Plan on slippery road conditions," the NWS states. "Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes."
