First baby of new year arrives Jan. 3 at WAH

The proverbial "stork" made its first visit to Windom Area Health Thursday dropping off the first bundle of joy to parents Harmoni and Rodney Jr. Sugden of Jeffers.

Indeed, the stork delivered a bouncing baby boy at 5:28 a.m., Jan. 3, 2018. The Sugdens have named their little one, Hudson Matthew. Hudson weighed 7 lbs., 12 oz.

Hudson is the second child born to the couple. He joins his almost-2-year-old brother Rodney III.

Harmoni said there were no complications with the birth, however, Sugden did arrive one day past his due date. "He was fashionably late," Harmoni said with a smile.

Sugden seemed content with snoozing while a Citizen camera flash snapped several photos of him with his proud parents.
Although he did flinch when the flash first fired, he adjusted quickly and went right back to dreaming sweet dreams.

Hudson's grandparents include Mike and Carol Orris of Spencer, Iowa, and Jamie and Rodney Sr. Sugden of Jeffers.

Great-grandmother is Lois Helt of Soldiers Grove, Wis.
