National Weather Service announces winter storm warning for region

This afternoon, the National Weather Service announced a storm warning for Murray and Cottonwood counties.

The warning runs from 3 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday. The report states that people should expect heavy snow with light icing. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected. Winds gusts could be as high as 35 mph.

Also, the Weather Service says travel could be very difficult. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
