10/10/2018 12:00:00 PM RRC named National Blue Ribbon School
Receiving awards and recognition is nothing new to the Red Rock Central School District. For the past decade, the school has been recognized for its work in teaching and preparing students for the future.
But last week, the school received arguably its highest honor yet.
Red Rock Central Secondary School was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2018.
RRC is one of 349 schools in the nation to be honored and just one of eight schools from Minnesota. It is the only high school in Minnesota to be recognized this year. The other seven are either elementary or middle schools.
Schools were honored in one of two performance categories, based on all student scores, student group scores and graduation rates:
Exemplary High Performing Schools, which are among the state's highest-performing schools as measured by state assessments.
Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools, which are among the state's highest-performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school's student groups and all students over the past five years.
RRCHS was recognized as the former.
RRC will be recognized by the USDE during an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., Nov. 7-8.
