At Tuesday's Windom city council meeting, the council voted to seek quotes from three engineering firms for a study of drainage issues near Red Leaf Court.
The matter arose during a public discussion about water issues and a proposed 46-unit apartment complex in the area. Under an EDA plan, Tax Increment Financing for the complex would help pay for drainage work in that area. The council is expected to select an engineering firm at its Oct. 17 meeting.
The drainage issue has been a public discussion several times over the years. During Tuesday's council meeting, city officials noted that few years ago, an engineering firm created a proposal to spend $400,000 to solve flooding issues in that area. The cost of that project would have been assessed to property owners who benefit from the project. However, that the proposal was eventually turned down by property owners.
