Des Moines River level continues to drop

The Des Moines River continued its overall decline today, falling to 21.63 feet at 4 p.m. The river was charted at 22.1 feet at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The river is down dramatically from its weekend crest of 23.37 feet on July 7. Incidentally, that is the crest that was repeated often by Windom Emergency Management Director Paul Johnson and Mayor Dominic Jones on Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service site lists the river's crest at 23.36 feet.
