5/11/2018 3:00:00 PM Comfrey makes formal request to pair with Mt. Lake for sports
The Comfrey school district submitted a formal request to the Mt. Lake Public school district to expand the current sports pairing agreement between the schools.
Comfrey notified Mt. Lake that the Cedar Mountain district had released Comfrey from its pairing agreement in all sports except football, effective for the 2018-19 school year. Comfrey will be released from the pairing in football for the 2019-20 school year.
Comfrey requested that volleyball, girls basketball, boys basketball and junior high football be added to the current pairing agreement and added that a follow-up request for cross country and track will be added once Springfield acts to dissolve its current pairing in those sports.
The status of pairing in football will not be determined until the proposed pairing between Mt. Lake Area and Comfrey receives word on whether or not it would be able to compete at the nine-man football level. MLA has stated that it would not enter a pairing in football if the pairing moves its classification to 11-man.
