8/29/2017 3:00:00 PM Windom students to learn in new environment, use new equipment
Students returning to classes at Windom Area Schools for the 2017-18 will see and use several new additions, the district has purchased or revamped.
Indeed, everything from the addition of two classrooms, to a new website, to new ag and science equipment are expected to enhance student learning during the new school year.
Portable classroom Anyone driving past Winfair in the past couple of weeks has no doubt noticed an addition to the northeast wing of the school.
A portable classroom has been built and is expected to have all the electrical and mechanical connections completed by the first day of school on Thursday.
"Most of the additional sidewalk has been installed. There's just one more little run to take care of," says Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt.
So, how will the portable classroom be used?
"Half will be used to house the computer lab and the other half will be a meeting room for confidential meetings, specialists and a collaborative space for staff," Frank says.
All of the computers and connections are expected to be in place by Sept. 7 in the computer half of the classroom. The other half is expected to have all of the needed equipment and materials for teachers to do their work.
Wormstadt added that the space also may be used for teaching art.
