8/12/2019 8:13:00 AM City to pick up branches starting Tuesday due to weak tornado Saturday night
The city of Windom Street Department announced today that it will again pick up branches following Saturday's storm.
According to Brian Cooley, Windom Street Superintendent, "We will be doing another branch pickup from the latest damage on Saturday. Just like last time, put your branches out on the curb for pickup. Only the affected areas will be picked up. We will start on Tuesday morning, Aug. 13."
Cottonwood County Emergency Management posted on Facebook Saturday that the damage was caused by what is believed to be a weak tornado. The track of the damage was roughly 100 feet wide and started just behind a home on the corner of River Road and 13th St. The track continued through the Cottonwood County fairgrounds and Winfair Elementary with the greatest damage along 15th St.
It went up 16th St., knocking over the pop can bin and continued to Cottonwood Lake, where a tree was uprooted and downed into the lake.
Cottonwood County Emergency Management said it had received no reports of severe damage to homes and no injuries.
