11/14/2017 9:00:00 AM Secretary of State meets with County Auditor/Treasurer
(Breaking News: 5:30 a.m., 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.)
Voting and voting machines were among the discussion points when Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon stopped in Windom, recently.
Simon was in town for a visit with County Auditor/Treasurer Jan Johnson. One concern Johnson has expressed often is the increased time and cost related to the early absentee ballot system that was introduced in last year's election.
Voters were allowed to register and vote early via absentee ballot up to 46 days before the election. The early absentee ballots could be cast up until the day before the election. What's more, residents no longer needed an excuse for using an absentee ballot.
