God's perfect timing proven again for new Jeffers UMC pastor

The search and wait for a new pastor was a short one for the congregation of Jeffers United Methodist Church.

Just a couple weeks after Pastor Wes Johnson left Jeffers and Red Rock UMCs, Cathy Tetrick Hoffbeck has stepped in as the new pastor at Jeffers. Although Red Rock UMC closed July 1, Tetrick Hoffbeck will still serve two churches - Jeffers UMC and her home church, Lamberton United Methodist Church.

"I'm just excited. I'm excited to start a new ministry and get the Word of God out to the Jeffers people," says Tetrick Hoffbeck, 52, and a 1985 graduate of Lamberton High School. She already has been sharing God's Word to the people at Lamberton UMC for nearly two decades, as a lay and youth leader.

Tetrick Hoffbeck is serving the church and people in which and with whom she was raised. And while she hasn't grown up with parishioners at Jeffers UMC, she knows many already.

"Jeffers is new, but I've preached in Jeffers as pulpit supply many times," she continues. "And I love the rural churches. That's where my heart is and where I've lived all my life."
