Monday COVID-19 update: no new cases in Cottonwood, Jackson counties


After adding three new cases over the holiday weekend, Cottonwood County had no new cases of COVID-19 in Monday's Minnesota Department of Health pandemic update. The county's current total stands at 136 lab-confirmed cases of the virus.

Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services reports that only two of the 136 cases remains active, within a minimum 10-day isolation period.

Jackson County currently has 55 cases of the virus, with one case considered active.

Regional totals for the virus include:
• Nobles County: 1,669 cases, 6 deaths.
• Watonwan County: 234 cases.
• Martin County: 169 cases, 5 deaths.
• Murray County: 64 cases.
• Brown County: 31 cases, 2 deaths.
• Redwood County: 18 cases.

Statewide numbers include:
• Overall cases: 38,569
• Overall deaths: 1,474.
• Deaths in long-term care or assisted living: 1,156.
• Health-care workers diagnosed: 3,790.
• Overall hospitalized: 4,219.
• Currently hospitalized: 258.
• Currently in ICU: 125.
• Overall patients recovered: 33,907
• Overall tests completed in state: 679,693.
