Cottonwood County COVID-19 total increases to 134


Thursday's Minnesota Department of Health update indicates that Cottonwood County added one new case of COVID-19, bringing the county's total to 134 cases.

Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services reports the newest patient in Cottonwood County is a 45-year-old. There are currently five active cases of the virus in the county, within a minimum 10-day isolation period.

Jackson County also added a new case of the virus - a 22-year-old - bringing the county's total number of cases to 55. Two of the cases are considered active.

Regional totals for the virus include:
• Nobles County: 1,661 cases, 6 deaths.
• Watonwan County: 215 cases.
• Martin County: 161 cases, 5 deaths.
• Murray County: 53 cases.
• Brown County: 31 cases, 2 deaths.
• Redwood County: 17 cases.

Statewide numbers include:
• Overall cases: 37,210.
• Overall deaths: 1,458.
• Deaths in long-term care or assisted living: 1,143.
• Health-care workers diagnosed: 3,706.
• Overall hospitalized: 4,112.
• Currently hospitalized: 274.
• Currently in ICU: 123.
• Overall patients recovered: 32,163.
• Overall tests completed in state: 630,427.
