Sanford Mountain Lake /Windom encouraging video visits & restructuring hours

WINDOM, MINN - As communities are urged to practice physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sanford Windom is encouraging patients to take advantage of video visits with their health care provider.

"We've had questions about whether or not to come into the clinic, or if we can do this a different way," said Josh Sammons, Sanford Windom Clinic Director. "For a lot of those visits, we have been able to switch to video visits, so patients can meet with their provider and still receive high quality, safe care."

Sanford Health offers virtual care options for a variety of health concerns, including aches, pains and every day care, as well as urgent care.

"Even though it's not the same as an in-person visit, virtual care is a way for us to see you from the comfort and safety of your home," said Dr. Yusuf. "We are still here for our patients, and making sure they get the care they need in safe way is our highest priority."

Patients are encouraged to contact their Sanford Health clinic to evaluate whether a new or upcoming appointment should be in-person or virtual care. At that time, staff can assist with walking the patient through the process for a video visit.

"Together we can determine if we still need to see you in person, or whether a virtual care visit is a good fit," Dr. Yusuf said. "For many scenarios, like prescription refills or following up on test results, virtual care is a wonderful option."

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Sanford Windom at 507-831-2223 or call Sanford Mountain Lake at 507-427-3332 or visit sanfordhealth.org.

Well visits, medication management, injuries and ear pain without fever or cough will be scheduled in the morning, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Patients who request appointments for respiratory illness, aches, fever and influenza or COVID-19 symptoms will be seen in the afternoon.

Call Sanford Windom at (507) 831-2223 or Sanford Mountain Lake at (507) 427-3332 to schedule a video visit. Please note not all visits may be appropriate for a video visit.

As a reminder, anyone experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough and shortness of breath, should call their health care provider before seeking care at a clinic or hospital.
