Eagle boys fall at Fairmont

The Windom Eagle boys basketball team couldn't slow down Fairmont inside Friday night as the Cardinals raced to a 71-42 victory at Fairmont.

Cardinal senior Wyatt Frank dominated the lane, finishing with 35 points, 17 rebounds and four blocked shots. His interior presence allowed the Cardinals to take a 16-point halftime lead and hold the Eagles to 29% shooting for the game.

Henry Erickson led the Eagles with 12 points in the loss. Austin Doorenbos added nine points.

MLAC 33-23 = 56
WWG 32-28 = 60

Westbrook-Walnut Grove rallied in the second half Friday night, claiming a 60-56 victory over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey in Westbrook.

The Wolverines led by one at halftime, but WWG took to the outside in the second half, hitting four treys to take the lead.

WWG hung on late, as MLAC missed four free throws late in the game.

Ethan Mischke led WWG with 24 points. Cole VanDeWiele added 11 points.

Sam Paulson paced MLAC with 19 points. Ethan Nickel added 16 points.

RRC 30-30-14 = 74

Adrian-Ellsworth rallied in the second half to force overtime, but Red Rock Central took a quick lead in the extra period and held on for a 74-70 victory Friday in Lamberton.

The Falcons tied the game at 60-60 on a Mason Gode free throw with three seconds left in regulation. Then, in overtime, Luke Willhite hit a trio of buckets, including a three-pointer, to give the Falcons the lead. A late bucket by Dominik Smith sealed the Falcon win.

Smith led RRC with 17 points. Jonah Hansen and Willhite each scored 13 and Gode added 12 in the win.
