2024 Flood Photos

The Des Moines River capures water from a vast watershed and the recent flood lifted water to its highest point in history and over the floodplain.

The flood brought out many volunteers and friends, neighbors and local government employees worked together to stop the water.

If the Island Park outfield for the baseball field is a cup, it was nearly filled to the brim in June. Homes in flood prone areas like Island Park were in serious danger during the record June flood, and well over 100 homes in Windom had substantial damage from the flood. Record high water in the recent floods has prompted the Windom City Council to consider measures for updated and new dike projects.

The June flood did record damage after the water in the Des Moines River reached its highest levels in history in Windom. FEMA is accepting requests for individual aid for the homes and families affected.
