The Minnesota-Dakotas district of Kiwanis has notified members of a possible scam targeting members.
An e-mail stating “KINDLY OPEN AND DOWNLOAD THE INVITE FROM (the person whose e-mail is being spoofed).”
If the e-mail is opened, it asks for a password for how you choose to open the invitation.
MNDAK Kiwanis stresses to delete the e-mail and do not open attachments or input password information.
“Every year, our members are targets for these people who don’t have anything better to do than harass good people,” the note from MNDAK Kiwanis states. “We have to remain alert because these e-mails appear to be from friends, so your tendency is to open the invitation.”
If you suspect such an e-mail is a scam attempt, send a separate e-mail to the person it’s from and ask if they sent you an invitation to something.
