Mt. Lake man charged with threats of violence

Steven James Lucas Jr., 28, of Mt. Lake has been charged with felony threats of violence following an alleged incident July 26.

According to a police report, a woman contacted law enforcement and reported Lucas had threatened to harm her if she went to work in Windom. She also reported that Lucas had made threats involving her children and told police she did not feel safe returning home.

Police reviewed text messages allegedly sent by Lucas that authorities said contained threats toward the woman. According to the report, the woman told police there had been ongoing problems in the relationship and that the situation had recently escalated.

Lucas’ whereabouts were unknown at the time the probable cause statement was prepared.
The felony threats of violence charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
